Byran Fuhrmann is an environmental chemist who has spent his entire professional career improving surface water quality. He is the lead inventor of seven U.S. patents and four commercial products focused on improving water quality in lakes, rivers, and estuaries, including EutroSORB (eutrosorb.com). He has overseen the use of these products and other technologies to restore water quality in hundreds of lakes across the United States, Europe, and Australia.

That operating history (hundreds of treatment programs, designed, executed, and measured) is what grounds his approach: identify the mechanism first, then match the intervention to it. He is one of nine Certified Lake Managers (CLM) in California and the two-time past president of the California Lake Management Society (CALMS), a Program Committee member for the North American Lake Management Society, and a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Source Water Protection Committee.

Byran founded ENV Water Chemistry Solutions in 2025 to bring his niche expertise in economics and aquatic biogeochemistry to clients who need practical solutions for environmental protection and restoration. He is also the Executive Director of Clean Water Help, an international nonprofit of volunteer water resource professionals working to restore water quality for impoverished communities.

James holds both a BS and an MS in Chemistry from the most prestigious university in the Philippines, the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is a registered chemist in the Philippines and is proficient in a variety of international testing standards.

James focuses on developing robust monitoring plans and complex data analysis to identify the root of each water quality problem. James has extensive experience in quality control and has managed laboratory operations for analytical chemistry teams in the Philippines.

James met Byran while working on a research project for Laguna Lake, the largest lake in the Philippines. He currently serves as a Chemical Limnologist at ENV Water Chemistry Solutions.
